At the 2009 Tokyo International Anime Fair someone managed to snap an image of a poster promoting a new CG movie based on Gatchaman, the poster is of Joe Asakura, the second-in-command of the heroic team and it looks awesome. The company responsible for animating the movie is IMAGI, who did the CG animated TMNT movie and are currently finishing up on the upcoming CG animated Astroboy movie. Unfortunately there is word that the Gatchaman movie may be stalled due to financial difficulties IMAGI are having at the moment. Here's hoping that it isn't placed on the backburner or dropped completely.

Poster image here

(Gatchaman is popularly known in English countries as Battle of the Planets or G-Force)

Also snapped at the Anime Fair was the Astroboy movie promotional booth

Everytime I see G-Force I morn the loss of MEGAS XLR and its awesome G-Force/Power Rangers parody S-Force.  Heres the full episode http://video.aol.com/video-detail/megas-xlr-109-bad-guy/824743141 The creators even got the English Voice actors of G-Force to do most of the voices.

MEGAS ruled but CN canceled it like they do all the good shows. Like Sealab and Frisky Dingo. Sad

Here I go bumping an old topic again.

I was so excited when I heard the title "G-Force" in the movie titles, then I saw it was about gerbils or guinea pigs or something... Now I find out that they are in fact planning to do a Gachaman movie! How exciting :D

The poster looks rather promising that they won't "modernize" it so much that it is no longer recognizable to the original. Looks like they plan on completing it in 2011.

And yes, EB, CN is not the brightest when it comes to keeping shows. Sealab was and still is awesome!
